Here’s something to celebrate in 2020! Though it was a difficult year a highlight was when we were selected as England Winners of the Voluntary Arts Epic Award for our Krar Project and in recognition of all our voluntary work.
So we would like to thank all the people who took part – the participants and volunteers at our music workshops at St. Peter’s in Vauxhall, St. Barnabas in Hackney and at the Portobello Road Salvation Army Hall in Kensington, who tried out early versions and helped refine the design of the instrument, the various makers who created over 50 instruments, the Ethiopian and Eritrean communities in Brixton for hosting Krar playing events, sharing the cultural traditions of the instrument, and the JOS management team who work so hard behind the scenes to make all our sessions possible.
